הא נמי דאורייתא הוא דכתיב (ירמיהו כט, ו) קחו נשים והולידו בנים ובנות וקחו לבניכם נשים ואת בנותיכם תנו לאנשים בשלמא בנים בידיה קיימי אלא בנתיה מי קיימן בידיה

This too is from the Torah, as it is written, “Take wives, and have sons and daughters, and take wives far your sons, and give your daughters to husbands” (Jeremiah 29:6). Now this makes sense with regard to the sons, [since such marriages are] within a father’s power but with regard to his daughters does he have such power?
